Shannon VanRaes is a Winnipeg-based multimedia journalist whose written work has appeared in Maclean's Magazine, The Globe and Mail, The Washington Post, Toronto Star, The Independent and Metro Winnipeg, as well as the Manitoba Co-operator, Country-Guide and the Western Producer.

As a contributor to Bloomberg Images and Reuters Pictures, her photography has appeared in publications such as the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Paris Match, the National Post, Forbes.com, The Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, Irish Times and The Washington Post. She is also a regular contributor to the Winnipeg Free Press.

While there’s no topic that doesn’t pique her interest, the intersection of industry and society, particularly agribusiness and social license, is often focus of her reportage.

 

When she's not working, you might find Shannon volunteering at a community garden, converting an old school bus into a camper or maintaining her cat's expansive social media network.
